Quasi-free knockout
A 392 MeV proton strikes one nucleon, or a preformed alpha cluster, inside a nucleus as if it were free, and both fly out; the rest of the nucleus stays a spectator. Momentum and energy balance tell how fast the struck particle was moving and how tightly it was bound.
