Shape coexistence
One nucleus, several shapes at nearly the same energy. In 186Pb the three lowest 0+ states lie within 700 keV and are associated with spherical, prolate and oblate configurations. Each shape is drawn above its own valley of the energy surface, at the deformation of a published calculation; the glowing rings in each valley are the measured levels built on that shape.
